Brooklyn
artist Andrea Goldsmith participated in the recent Binghamton
University alumni art show, and was on her way out of town back to the
borough when we met her at another opening at Spool Manufacturing. Lucky
for us we had a chance to talk before the night was over, and moreso that
she agreed to send ragazine.cc some work to share. Enjoy.

Judy
Horowitz completed her MFA at The Ohio State University, moved to Miami a
few years later and never went back. What she found in Florida "was
that the sky is truly blue, the sunsets were more colorful than can
be imagined and the midnight sky by the beach was blue/black with stars....
The colors that surrounded me have become a part of my palette. "
Horowitz's
technique combines cutting or tearing pieces of canvas and gluing them on
to canvas. "I use the canvas pieces to break and abstract the
images. The oil paint then becomes the unifying force that brings
everything back together."
