Throckmorton Fine Art (145 East 57th Street New York 212 223 1059) is presenting a special photographic exhibition titled T I E R R A – A Latin American Landscape from June 28 through September 15, 2018. The summer exhibition features 42 photographs that explore the landscape of Latin America dating from 1850 to the year 2000. The photographs are by leading artists and are united by a prominent theme in Latin American photography: the portrayal of the architectural remains of the region’s Pre-Colombian civilizations. The photographs capture specific places at a moment in time, but they also are evocative of the passing of time, and so the unfolding of Latin American history. Among the legendary photographers featured in the exhibition are pioneers including Teobert Maier, Desire Charnay, Abel Briquet, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Edward Weston, Hugo Brehme, Mario Algaze, Marilyn Bridges, Laura Gilpin and Martin Chambi.
